In the 1850 U.S. Census Records there is a Joseph C. Gaddis living with the Matthew Locke family in Coosa County, Alabama. It is not definite whether his age is 18 or 28. This could be the same man, but there is no proof of this. It is believed that he went to Miss. when his parents migrated there. He was one of the administrators of his Father's estate in Lauderdale County, Mississippi.
