Thomas Cornelius Gaddis, first known child of John and Elizabeth (Connally) Gaddis called "Tom" by his family was b. probably in Orange Co., North Carolina in 1792 according to his Pension Application Record. He died in 1851 in Lauderdale Co., close to Meridian, Miss. , it is not known where he was buried. Thomas and his brother John Gaddis enlisted in the War of 1812 in the 4th Regiment of Jones Co., Ga., Mil. Vol. Art. in 1814.
According to census records Thomas C. Gaddis was listed in 1820 living in Jones Co., Ga. with his wife Phoebe and 1 male child (up to 10 years of age) believed to be Cornelius Monroe Gaddis, their first child. We do not have the birth dates of Joseph C, & Thomas F. but Benjamin Franklin Gaddis (4th son) was born 2 May 1827 in Monroe Co. , Ga. The 1830 census record shows him living in Monroe Co. with wife Phoebe, and 4 sons, Cornelius Monroe age 10-15, Joseph C. age 5-10, Thomas F. age 5-10, Benjamin Franklin under age 5 and 1 daughter Frances E. under 5 years of age. They also have 1 female slave age 10-26 and a female child slave under 10 with 9 altogether in their household.
