Benjamin was the 4th son of Thomas Cornelius Gaddis and Phoebe Dillard. Benjmain married Frances Ann Elizabeth PRUITT 17 June 1856 in Salem, Alabama.

At regular meeting of Mellen Lodge No. 138 held at their hall in Chunkeyville on Wednesday 13th day of June 1859, The following resolution was unam'ly adopted.
