Mackie Funeral Rites Are Set Wednesday

Funeral services for Miss Ruth Louise (Sister) Mackie were set at 10 a. m. Wednesday from the chapel of Colonial Funeral Home with the Rev. Adrian DeYoung, Pastor of the Hazlehurst Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment will be in the family plot in Columbia Cemetery.
Miss Mackie, a resident of Ellisville in recent years, died in a Laurel hospital at 4:30 p. m. Monday after a three day illness.
She was a native of Bogalusa, daughter of the late Henry L. and Louis Gilliam Mackie, who were long time Columbia residents. She came here as a young child, was reared here and attended Columbia schools.
"Sister" as she was affectionately known t a host of friends, was a faithful member of the Columbia Presbyterian Church for many years and was a member of the Sunday School there. More recently she had placed her membership in the Hazlehurst Church.
Surviving are four sisters, Mrs. Alonza Berry of Ft. Pierce, Fla., Mrs. Leon Simmons of Hazlehurst; Mrs. Clyde Blount of Jacksonville, Fla., and Mrs. Ed Adams of Montgomery, Ala.; a twin brother, H. L. Buddy Mackie of Jacksonville, Fla.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
