ESTHERVILLE - Mass of Christian Burial for Dale E. Marriott, 71, of Estherville will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 18, 2011, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Estherville with Father Brian Hughes as Celebrant. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville. Interment will be at St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery in Estherville with military honors by VFW Post 3388 and American Legion Post 91 of Estherville.

He died Sunday, March 13, 2011, at Avera Holy Family Health in Estherville.

Dale Eugene Marriott, the son of Harold and Gertrude (Conlon) Marriott, was born May 15, 1939, in Estherville.

Dale's work ethic started at a young age delivering newspapers and working at Kinnard's Dairy. He received his education in Estherville schools. At the age of 17 he joined the United States Air Force and served his country for four years. He returned to Estherville and worked for John Morrell. On Aug. 3, 1962, he was united in marriage to Nancy Harvego at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Estherville. In 1965, he moved his family to Dubuque and worked at John Deere, retiring in March of 1996. Dale and his wife, Nancy, returned to Estherville to enjoy their retirement but Dale's need to work got the best of him and he went to work for Motor Inn of Estherville where he worked with his Hanson brother, Wendall.

He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and an active member of Knights of Columbus where he was past Grand Night. Dale enjoyed riding his Harley where he was a member of H.O.G., his bicycle, walking, playing cards, crossword puzzles and playing his guitar.

Left to cherish Dale's memory are his wife, Nancy, of Estherville; his children, Tina Mulgrew and Scott of Kellogg, Iowa, Ty Marriott and Dawn of Freeport, Ill. and Tulley Marriott of Plumas Lake, Calif.; grandchildren, Alex, Jake and Luke Mulgrew, Tori Marriott, Stephanie and Kelly Leiva; sisters, Carrol Cone of South Paris, Maine, Katie Larson and David of Afton and Barb Hoffmeyer and Lon of Estherville; mother-in-law, Ruth Harvego Rosenberg; aunt, Alice Clancy of Sherburn, Minn.; cousin, Lea Ann Bishop of Fairmont, Minn.; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Paulson and Marlin of Armstrong, Jane Wodtke and Myron of Spirit Lake and Lois Dalen and Gary of Estherville; brother-in-law, Ernie Harvego and Janet of Spirit Lake and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant sister, Kathleen, and father-in-law, Earl Harvego.
