Calvin C. Atchley, 73, died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2000, at his home.
Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Monday at Greer Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charles Watson officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Mangum.

Atchley, known as "Slim" was born to Odie and Alice Jane (Hepler) Atchley in Altus on Aug. 11, 1927. He grew up in the Gould area and attended school there.

He joined the military and served in World War II. He returned to southwest Oklahoma and lived in Olustee.
On Feb. 22, 1949, he married Thelma Sue Roller in Mangum. They made their home in Mangum and he was employed at Gold Star Dairy. When Gold Star Dairy closed, he commuted to Weatherford where he was a construction superintendent at the university dormitories. He later worked in the funeral industry, being employed by Vernon Johnson, Jim Lovett, Bill Greer and currently by Greer Funeral Home.

Atchley was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother and his wife, Thelma Sue in 1996.

He is survived by his children, Naomi (Atchley) Duke of Mangum, Dianna Sue Lyle of Hobbs, N.M., Calvin Dwayne Atchley of Branson, Mo. and C. Lynn Atchely of Weatherford; a step son, John Connley; three sisters, Jeune Warren, Esther Atchley, both of Mangum and Octavia Kelly of Apache Junction, Ariz.

Pall bearers will be his grandsons, David Anthony Kerbo, Caleb Daniel Atchley, Nathan Lee Atchley and Christopher Akin, also a friend Wayne Fennell. He also has a granddaughter, Chasitidy D. Atchley and two great grandchildren.
