Wilson Lee Rothrock was the youngest of ten known children of George Rothrock (1781-1851) and Isabella Test Rothrock (1789-1830) who married 21 May 1807 at York, York County, Pennsylvania. After Isabella died George remarried to Prudence Herter Purdue Thomas and had one additional known child.

In 1850 Wilson was working as a clerk at Bellefonte Township, Centre County, Pennsylvania. Sometime between 1850 and 1858 Wilson moved to the west and on 17 Feb 1858 (family records) or 02 Oct 1858 (county Records) Wilson married Sarah Ann Carter (1838-1897) at Richmond, Ray County, Missouri. Wilson and Sarah were the parents of ten known children, five boys and five girls. Relatively little is known of most of the children.

1. Mary Rothrock Dunbar (1859-???)
2. George Rothrock (1861-???)
3. Margaret Rothrock Hummer (1863-1917)
4. Isabella Rothrock Stone (1866-1921)
5. Alexander Rothrock (1867-???)
6. John Carter Rothrock (1868-1936)
7. Walter Rothrock (1871-???)
8. Jessie May Rothrock Clyde (1874-1948)
9. Elizabeth "Bessie" Rothrock Marshall Minn (1861-p1948)
10. Henry Lee Rothrock (1878-???)

The family is listed twice in the 1860 census, once in Ray County, Missouri and once in Golden City, Arapahoe County, Kansas (Arapahoe County is in Colorado, but in 1860 Colorado was still part of the Kansas Territory). Wilson was listed as a deed recorder. In c1867 the family moved to Nebraska and then in c1876 returned to the Kansas City, Missouri area. In 1880 the parents and all ten of their children were living at St. Joseph, Buchanan County, Missouri. In 1900 the widower Wilson was living as a boarder in Kansas City, and sometime after that moved to Washington State to be with some of his children.
