Betty R. Horm Whitesel, age 80, of North East, died on Thursday March 10, 2011 at UPMC Hamot. She was born on July 21, 1930 in Hormtown, Pa. to the late Leslie L. and Mae Jennie Bussard Horm. Betty graduated Reynoldsville High School and loved to read any good books especially Settling of the West, Civil War, and Southern Life. Betty was formerly employed at the Eastside K-Mart for 16 years. She also held various part time jobs until complete retirement at the age of 78 years old. She attended the First Baptist Church of North East and belonged to the K-Mart Retirees Group, Wesleyville Keen Agers, and was a two time cancer survivor. Betty liked the simple things in life and enjoyed geneology, antiques, flowers, birds, and nature. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by five brothers, seven sisters, and a great-grandaughter Madison Foster. She is survived by her daughters, Pamela Koszewski of Erie and Brenda Merritt and husband Mark of Harborcreek; a brother, Robert (Bob) Horm of Clearfield; grandchildren, James Maille, Jessica Foster, William Koszewski, and Nicole Koszewski; great-grandchildren Kiya Koszewski and Makayla Foster. Friends may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake Street, North East on Monday 7-9 and Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. until time of a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Officiating Rev. Robert Klecan. Interment North East Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the John Kanzius Research Fondation, 130 West 8th Street, Erie, PA 16501.
