Rockport, MA May 23, 1837 *; m. at the Fifth Parish Church, Sandy Bay, Gloucester, MA Apr. 19, 1784* Martha/Patty Tarr, daughter of James & Lucy (Pool) Tarr, was bp. Aug. 22, 1762 at the Fifth Parish Church*; d. Rockport Mar. 20, 1848*. James and Patty had six children born in Massachusetts between 1784 and 1807*; four of them were born in Gloucester.* James had been a mariner in Massachusetts and is buried at the Old First Parish
Burying Ground in Rockport, MA.

James enlisted in the Revolutionary War in Ipswich, MA and served from March 1777 to March 1780. He was a private in the Rev. War and served in Capt. Wiley’s Company, in Col. Michael Jackson’s Regiment. – Pension # W20555. His pension was granted from April 3, 1818 to 1837. His widow, Patty, applied for her widow’s pension on August 3, 1838 in Essex County, MA. She received it on May 23, 1837 and until her death in March 1848.
