Charles M. Mitchell, 85, of Hicksville,died Friday February 11, 2011 at Hickory Creek of Hicksville.
Charles was born to the late Charles Wesley and Dorothy Ellen (Horn) Mitchell at Montgomery, Louisiana on May 2, 1925.
Charles graduated from Immanuel Missionary Bible School, Colorado Springs. Colorado. It was there that he met Glenna Maxine Porterfield and they were united in marriage September 7, 1952.
He was a realtor in Arkansas and Missouri for 30 years. Charles thoroughly enjoyed gardening and grew many vegetables for his family. He also loved bird watching. During the last few months while being in a wheelchair he loved sitting by the window watchng the birds and enjoying the beauty of nature.
He is a member of the Lost Creek Emmanuel Missionary Church, Farmer, Ohio.
Charles is survived by his wife Maxine, two sons, Gaylen of Craig, CO, Gary of Ft. Wayne, IN, three daughters, Karen Casey of El Dorado Springs, MO, Connie Blankenship of Ft. Wayne, IN, Dorothy Neville of Bellevue, OH, (12) grandchildren, (4) great grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, Eugene of Grants Pass, OR and two sisters Sara Gerig of Albany, OR and Lyneva Grauberger of Longmont, CO.
Preceding him in death were a son Brian and two sisters Dera Keen and Ruth Blowers.
The funeral service for Charles will be at the Lost Creek Emmanuel Church, Farmer, Ohio, on Tuesday at 11:00. Visitation will be at Smith & Brown Funeral Home, Hicksville on Monday from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 and also one hour prior to the service at the church.
Burial will be at Scipio Cemetery, Harlan, Indiana.
