Humeston New Era
December 5, 1900
Pg 4
Wm. Barber, a prominent citizen of Allerton, accidently shot himself with fatal results, on Tuesday of last week. He was at home alone, and it is thought that he took his gun to shoot at something in the back yard, when just outside the door slipped and fell in such a way as to cause the gun to discharge. The charge entered his left side near the heart, killing him instantly. He was a man much respected by all who knew him, and his death causes universal regret.
