"John Ellis Fitzgerald, 60, a resident of Mayburg, Clarion County, for the past 40 years, died at 8:10 p. m. Thursday in the Community Hospital in Kane following a two month illness.
He was born on January 20. 1873, at Clarington, Pa. On June 13, 1911, he was married in Warren to Miss Mary Olive Whitehill who survives. Previously, he was married to Miss Mary Matilda Fifer, [Kifer] who preceded him in death.
The deceased was a member of the Free Methodist Church of Mayburg and the Loyal Order of Moose in Warren.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by the following children by his first marriage: Mrs. Elda Bassett of Rochester, N. Y.; Lonnie E. Fitzgerald, of Cedar Grove. N. J., Carl G. Fitzgerald of Ridgeway and Merle E. Fitzgerald of Kane. Also surviving are a foster daughter, Mrs. Alice Thompson of Kane, a brother, Fred Fitzgerald of Warren, a sister, Mrs. William Hottel of Brookville, three half-sisters, Mrs. Gary Bean of Warren; Mrs. Arnold Hienman of Warren and Mrs. Fern Deacon of Philadelphia, seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p. m. Sunday in the Cummings Funeral home in Kane with Rev. Joseph Taylor, pastor of the Free Methodist Church of Mayburg in charge. Interment will be in the Scotch Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Cummings Funeral home Saturday."
