Enlisted on August 18, 1862 at Stanley County, North Carolina as a Private in the 8th North Carolina Infantry, Company H at the age of 34. POW on June 1, 1864 at Cold Harbor, Virginia. Confined on June 3, 1864 at Point Lookout, Maryland. Transferred on June 12, 1864 to Elmira. Died of disease as a POW.
