Wilson Porter, 77, of Wellington, died Thursday, July 15, 1993 in Amarillo. He was born on May 20, 1916 in Hall County near Brice to James K. and Ida L. Lott Porter. The family moved to Buck Creek Community of Collingsworth County in 1917. He graduated from Wellington High School in 1934. He and Shirley Stafford married on Jan. 27, 1941 in Wellington. He was a retired farmer and peace officer and belonged to the Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley, of the home; two sons,Rodney Porter of Wellington and Joseph Porter of Mesquite; three daughters, ZoNell Barnett of San Antonio; LaRaine Andrews of Amarillo; Judy Smith of Canyon; one sister, Minette Propes of Pampa; 10 grandchildren, Jeff Barnett, Anthony Porter, Gina Watts, Janie Porter, Brandon Porter, Kelly Hamil, Allison Smith, Chase Porter, Lea Porter and Jarred Porter and 5 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Marshall and Jim Porter and by three sisters, Fay Smith, Ava Porter and Hazel Tibbets
Family and friends gathered at Pioneer Park following the servicesfor a "celebration of life."
