COLLINS RUTH C. (NIELSEN); born August 9, 1925; passed away peacefully after a long illness on February 27, 2011; at Grayling Mercy Hospital. Ruth was born in Battle Creek Michigan to Earl and Edith Nielsen. Ruth is survived by her husband, Alvin after 59 years of marriage; children, Linda Collins, Michael (Deborah) Collins, Robert (Sandra) Collins and Cynthia Jameyfield; she is also survived by eight grandchildren; and three great grandchildren; and one brother Earl Nielsen. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Lyle, Glen, Fred and Niel Nielsen; and one grandson Ryan Percival. Ruth was trained as a nurse and worked at St. Joseph Hospital in Flint Michigan. Later in life, Ruth trained as a tax consultant, worked at Pontiac UAW Local 653 and had her own in home tax business. Ruth also was active as a leader in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. She enjoyed camping, snowmobiling, boating and traveling while spending winters in Arizona. A Celebration of Ruth's Life will be held Wednesday, March 2, 2011, 11 a.m. at Donelson, Johns and Evans Funeral Home, Waterford. Interment to follow at White Chapel Memorial Cemetery.
