After a most tedious and painful illness of about two months John St. John passed from his earthly trials last Monday evening a little past nine o'clock. His first ailment was typhoid fever or something akin to it, and when that had exhausted itself and him too, pneumonia set in, and though St. John had a wonderful constitution his great strength was at last spent. The disease conquered and his spirit passed away calmly as though he was falling into a sweet sleep. Deceased was born in Dodge county, Wis., and was 41 years, 10 months and 14 days old at his death. He was married in 1883 in Chicago and soon after settled in Algona where he since resided and pursued his trade as a blacksmith. He leaves a devoted wife who sustained him faithfully during the years of their married life, and who watched over him during his long illness with the tenderness of a heroic woman. He also leaves four children, the oldest of whom is nine years and the youngest but six months. His aged mother was here during his illness and helped what she could to alleviate his suffering. The funeral took place yesterday at 3 o'clock from the house, under the auspices of Rev. De Forest of the Episcopal church.
