Accident Occurs Near Liberty, Kentucky When Brakes Fail
Arthur Ashburn, 50, well known farmer and livestock dealer of near Livingston, was killed almost instantly on Sunday, October 1, at about 2 p.m. when the truck in which he was riding wrecked near Liberty, Ky.
The truck, which was heavily loded with livestock, was driven by Bill Pennington, who lost control of it when the brakes gave way while going down a steep hill. Pennington was not seriously injured.
Besides his wife, Mrs. Pearl Beaty Ashburn, he is survived by four daughters, Mrs Magdalene Sullivan, wife of Claude Sullivan of Anderson, Indiana, Missus Edith, Roselle and Betty Sue Ashburn; three sons, Ernest Perry and Lewis Ashburn; one sister Miss Ruby Ashburn; and three brothers, Robert C. and Ruben H. Ashburn of Cookeville, and William Ashburn of near Brotherton.
Funeral services were conducted at the home three miles East of Livingston on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock by the Rev. E.M. Smith with burial in Good Hope Cemetery.

Tennessean Kill in Truck Werck
Mr. Arthur Ashburn, of Livingston, TN., while on his way to market Sunday night, lost control of his truck on Walnut Hill, Casey County, wrecking the truckand bringing instant death to himself. Several head of cattle and sheepwere injured in such a way that they had to be killed. Mr. Bartle, Liberty Undertaker, was called and conveyed the body to Livingston, Tenn., home of the deceased.
