Born in Bromberg, Posen Dist. Prussia to Karl and Elizabeth Hoffman WITT, she arrived in U. S. on April 4, 1883 with sister Ernstina.

Amelia married William Carl Winter on March 27, 1883. They farmed at Sibley, IL They were parents of five. She died of childbed fever and was buried with a stillborn son.
