Sam De Yager, 82, of Sioux Center died Sunday, Dec. 2, at the Sioux Center Hospital after a long illness.
Services were at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5 in Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center. The Rev. Duane Tinklenberg officiated. Burial was in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Mr. De Yager was born Dec. 6, 1901, in Boyden. He attended Orange City Christian School.
He married Ida Gerritsen Dec. 21, 1923, in Sioux Center. They lived in Sioux County and Lincoln County, S.D., until moving to Sioux Center in 1963.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Gerrit of Artesia,. Calif.; Albert and Sam Jr., both of Inwood; and Bill of Steen, Minn.; a daughter, Mrs. Gerrit (Tracy) Byker of Hawarden; two sisters, Mrs. Gary (Gert) Van Lant of Artesia and Mrs. Gilbert (Ann) Otten of Alcester, S.D.; 22 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
