Mary Lincoln Sutcliffe was the daughter of Samuel Sutcliffe and Anna Belle (Spence) Sutcliffe. She was born the day Abraham Lincoln was shot so her middle name was Lincoln. After her father's death in 1869, Mary at age 4 went to live in a downtown Philadelphia orphanage, along with her older brother Lewis and her baby brother Samuel. She married John Porter Glancy in 1890. Mary and John Glancy had 4 children: Earl, Ralph, Ethel, and Gertrude (married Fred Spangenberg).
