Paul Emmett McCarty, the son of Valentine Marnius and Frances (Stallman) McCarty was born January 7, 1931 in Slayton, MN. Graduated from Hartley High School, Hartley IA in 1950. Farmed in Northwest Iowa in 1950 and 1951.

He then served in the U.S. Army from July 1952 until July 8, 1954. He served a tour in Korea during the war.

He then worked at a local gas company for 3 years in Spencer Iowa. The next 3 years he went back to framing in the Hartley area. Paul's next move was to Omaha, where he worked for Speedway Scaffolding with his brother Don, until he retired in 1993.

Paul moved to the Hidden Hills Health and Rehabilitation Center in Omaha in 2006, where he lived until he passed away on April 17, 2009.

He was preceded in death by 2 brothers & a sister:
