Donald "Don" Leroy McCarty passed away in his sleep at home at 2919 So 23rd St, Omaha NE on December 17, 1997 at the age of 64. The son of Valentine Marnius (V.M.) and Frances (Stallman) McCarty. He was born in Hospers, Iowa on November 2, 1933. He graduated from Hartley High School in 1951 and was 4 year letterman in football and track and 2 year in wrestling.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 18 November 1953 and completed his basic training at Camp Chaffee, Arkansas. He was a paratrooper with the famed "All American" 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, NC. He was honorably discharged as a SP4 on 17 November 1955.

He married Marilyn Ann Bunker on September 2, 1957 at the St Louis Catholic Church in Royal Iowa. He divorced Marilyn in July 1968. He would later married Imogene Edler Korleski on November 1, 1983 (1 day before his 50th birthday) in Omaha NE.

He spent most of his adulthood in Omaha NE and worked for the Speedway Scaffolding Company for 30 years. He enjoyed his beer, cabin, boating, grilling, hunting and being a grandpa.

At the time of his passing he was survived by his 2 daughters, Rita McCarty, Omaha, Rita's daughter Tara McCarty. Lisa (McCarty)and husband Tim Miller and their 3 children, Kristin, Colt and Dylan of Minneapolis, his 2 sons Max and wife Jeanine of Omaha, Don Jr and Wife Maureen and their 3 boys, Don Andrew, Sean and Justin of Jacksonville NC, and his wife Imogene.
He was also survived by his 4 brothers; Cliff, Paul, Dan (twin) and Larry, and 7 sisters; Rosemary Salber, Patricia Starman, Charlotte Meyer, Janice Benz, Ruth Adams, Yvonne Kopp and Marilyn Newman.
