Grady Lee Sowell, age 83 formally of Milton, FL passed away in Rossville, GA on Saturday, May 12, 2012.

Born on January 11, 1929 in Falco, AL to the late John L. and Stella Belle Sowell

Mr. Sowell served as a pastor of many churches in Florida. Lake Placid Assembly 1954-1956; Frost Proof First Assembly 1956-1957; Whitfield Assembly 1957-1958; Ferry Pass Assembly 1958-1963; Graceville First Assembly 1963-1966; and East Brewton First Assembly (Ala)1967-1973. He also worked with Brownsville Assembly as a Sunday School teacher 1974 - 1983 and Pace Assembly of God as Associate Pastor, 1986 - 1992.

He moved to Rossville, GA in Sept. 2009 and attended Spring Creek Church of God.

He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Rev. John Sowell and Virgil Sowell; and a sister, Lois Ellis.

Mr. Sowell is survived by his wife, Betty Jean Kast Sowell; children: Ron (Debby) Sowell of Brewton, AL, Rick (Pam) Sowell of Pace, FL, Rhonda (Hal) Beckham of Alexander City, AL; grandchildren, Landon Lee Sowell, Brooke Ellis, and Lindsey(Brian) Wesley, Trevor Youngblood, and Tami Sharpe; great-grandchildren, Karley Ellis, Braelynn Wesley, Brian Wesley, Jr. brothers, Buddy(Caroline) Sowell of Pensacola, FL, Cecil (Bette) Sowell of Flagler Beach, FL; two sister-in-laws, Vernell Sowell of Seminole, AL and Melba Sowell of Pensacola, FL; one brother-in-law Clay Ellis of Livingston, TX

Funeral services will be 11AM Thursday, May 17, 2012 at Pace Assembly of God with Rev's Jerry Johnson, Ron Carnley and Bennie Mills, officiating. Burial will be at Pensacola Memorial Gardens with Rev's Jeff McKee and Mike Poston, officiating.

Family will receive friends from 6-8PM Wednesday at Lewis Funeral Home, Pace Chapel.

Lewis Funeral Home, Pace Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
