Two San Antonio rail-roaders, Edward Bee and Michael Volz Jr., died in the head-on collision of two trains near Atlanta, Texas. A third George D. Bean, was critically injured.

July 23 1894 trains 5 and 6 Texarkana and Laredo RPO collided on a curve near Queen City Tex at 2.34 pm Clerks Edward Bee Charles Holland and M Volz were killed and Clerk George D Bean severely injured he died February 8 1895 from the effects of his injuries One postal car 1 baggage car and 1 express car in each train were telescoped from end to end .

Resolutions on the Death of the Railway
Postal Clerks
At a meeting of the railway postal
clerks held yesterday in the office of
Chief Clerk Lippeki of the railway mail
clerks the following resolutions were
adopted:
Whereas, The railway postal clerks
entering at San Antonio have been
truly aware of the sad and awful wreck
of train No. 5 and 6. on the Texarkana
& Laredo railroad postoffice.
Where in Edward Bee, Michael
Volz and Charles Holland. Three
of our beloved fellow clerks, lost
their lives while at these post mortally
discharging their duties as railway pos-
tal clerks: Then as be it
Resolved, First, That words fail us
in our attempt to express our deep sor-
row on this occasion.
Resolved, Second, That in the death
of our above name __________ a gov-
ernment has lost three most faithful
and ______ delivers the public worthy
and ever ready servants and the railway
postal clerks three noble, brave, faithful
and unselfish friends.
Resolved, Third, ____ in this dark
hour of sorrow and ________ we ____
____ to the grief-stricken families and
relatives of our deceased companions
our heartfelt sympathy and sustain
the sorrow stricken _____ in such times
of great grief.
Resolved, Fourth, That a copy of these
resolutions be placed upon the official
records of the chief clerk of the railway
mail service at San Antonio Texas and
also that a copy be sent in the office of
the superintendant of the eleventh divi-
son of the railway post office at Fort
Worth, Tex. with the request that the
same be placed on file in mail office.
