William A. Beckort

William (Bill) A. Beckort, 92, Rockport, died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2011, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville.
Born Oct. 10, 1918, in Wea Township, Tippecanoe County, he was the son of the late Charles R. and Katie Gebhard Beckort.
He was a lifelong farmer, attended Larkin Baptist Church, was a former president of Spencer County Farm Bureau Inc., former president of the Spencer County Farm Bureau Co-op and a former member of the Ohio Valley Producers Live Stock Association, Spencer County Extension Board, Spencer County Co-op Credit Union Board and Indiana Rural Youth.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, the former Milley Catherine Chapman; three sisters, Helen Ewin, Alma Crosley and Maggie Pekinpaugh; and a brother John Beckort.
Survivors include three children, Martha Beckort of Corydon, Eleisa Atkinson of Eben, Mich., and Richard Beckort of Seymour; two sisters, Rosie and Mazel Beckort, both of Rockport; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Friday, Feb. 18, from 3 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 19, after 9 a.m. at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport.
Funeral: Saturday, Feb. 19, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery in Patronville.
Officiant: The Rev. Randy Mark Miles.
The family suggests memorial gifts to the South Spencer Scholarship Foundation.
