In the Jun. 1880 census, Lucian Fletcher, said to be father of Flavonia, was unmarried and residing with a Mason family in the Pedlar Dist. of Amherst Co. and employed as a farm hand. Living next door to the Mason family was 34-yr old Frances Everett with children Marie, age 14, Flavony [sic], age 12, Orlena, age 9 and Elizabeth, age 6. Another child, Ulrich was enumerated as a 1-yr old female but, his/her name was over struck.

Lucian and Frances did not marry until Oct. 1880 and Flavonia was born in 1869. In 1870, Lucian was unmarried and head of household with Frances Evans, age 30, Susan Evans, age 1 and Mary Evans, age 3, residing in the same household.

Margaret (#47920648), who has considerable time invested in this family's history, pointed out to me that, given the time and perhaps the varying degrees of literacy amongst those charged with enumeration, Frances Evans and Frances Everett could be the result of a misunderstanding or mis-hearing of the name. I tend to agree.
