Calvin was the last of nine children born to George Gutman and Annie Michel. On 08 Jul 1933 he married Lois Worley and they had one son, Calvin, Jr. For 38 years he was employed by John H. Swisher and Sons, Inc., and he ended his career as the general manager of the Valdosta, Georgia, plant. Calvin was also a memeber of the Rotary Club of Valdosta, Georgia. Calvin died at the age of 89.
