GULFPORT --- Mr. Walter S. "Walt" Bristow, Jr., 82, died Tuesday, May 28, 2002 in Gulfport, MS.
Mr. Bristow was born in Estacada, Oregon and was a resident of Gulfport. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII, Korea and Vietnam. He fought in the Philippine, New Guinea and Luzon campaigns and received the Bronze Star. He retired in 1977 as Chief Inspector of Ammo Depot in Huntsville, AL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bessie Califf and Walter Bristow, Sr.; and his sister, Barbara Sturges.
Survivors include his wife, Alvina Kroese Bristow of Gulfport, MS; three sons, Walter Bristow III and his wife Barbara Bristow of Virginia, Howard Bristow of San Antonio, Texas and Tommy Armstrong of California; two daughters and their husbands, Donna and Clifton DeSanno of Oregon and Sandra and George Bordeaux of Gulfport, MS; a brother and his wife, Oliver and Betty Bristow of Oregon; a sister and her husband, Patricia and Jarl Sonsteng of Washington; 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services will be Friday, May 31, 2002, at 10:30 a.m. at Riemann Memorial Funeral Home, U.S. 49 North in Gulfport, MS.
Burial will follow in the Biloxi National Cemetery.
