He married Electa Alvira Nash, 1 january, 1851 in St. Joseph Co., MI

Children: Alice M., Dimmis L. (Dimmie), Emma, Chester E., Henry Orin & John Ellison Jr. Adams

Came to Branch County at the age of ten with his parents.
Was a Farmer of some means, his Personal Property in Gilead Twp. 1860 was $2400.00 one of the largest in Branch Co., MI. Living with him on the farm were his Brothers JAMES CHESTER (19) and ISAAC (14).

The EXPESS, COLON, MICHIGAN, JANUARY 11,1901:
On New Year's day and the beginning of a new century, a large number of friends and relitives gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. JOHN ADAMS , two miles West of Colon, to participate in the celebration of thier fiftieth anniversery. There were forty-five present and all entered with much intrest and enthusiasm in having a general good time. There was music, speaking and much to make it a long time remembered.
Just before partaking of a bountilful dinner, they were presented with numerous and valuable gifts, which went far to show the high esteem and good wishes of thier family and friends. Am,ong the presents were two beutiful silk patchwork quilts, each block contributed by different relitives with thier names on the same.
Of a family of six children and ten grand children there has never been a death, the children are Henry and John of this place; Mrs. Dimmie Coddington, Nevada Mills, Ind.; Mrs Emma Nettleman, East Gilead, Michigan; Chester Adams and Mrs. Alice Baker, Hopkins Station, Michigan.

Synopsis: John E. Adams was born in Middlesex, Yates Co. NY July 15 1826, and died at his home March 13, 1907.
He came with his parents to Michigan at the age of ten and settlrd on a farm near Bronson. He was the eldest of nine children, two brothers and two sisters surviive.
He was married to Miss Electa Nash January 1, 1851, to this union were born six children; Mrs. Alice Baker and chester Adams of Hopkins, Allegan County; Mrs Emma Nettleman, Mrs. Dimmie Coddington, Henry and John Adams of this place.
The funeral was at the home and the remains laid to rest at
Lakeside Cemetery.....
In attendance were: Isaac Adams and daughter, Miss Alice; James Adams and family, Claud Adams and wife, G.C. Ferris, John Larkin. John Bennet and Gilmore Covey.
