Elizabeth "Betty" Tardiff French, 76, of Oakley Street, died Monday, April 15, 1996, in St. Mary's Medical Center.
Born in Duluth, she was lifelong Duluth resident. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Downtown Duluth Lioness Club, Women's Association of Duluth-Superior Symphony Orchestra, Friends of Minnesota Opera, and served as the orchestra hospitality co-chair.
Her husband, James Sr., died in 1989. She is survived by five sons, James Jr., Edward, Joseph, John and Stephen, all of Duluth; two daughters, Mary Slusser of Muskegon, Mich., and Catherine Dreher of Duluth; three sisters, Ellen Johnson of Cottage Grove, Ore., Louise Tardiff of Duluth and Mary Keene of Savannah, Ga.; three brothers, Gilbert Tardiff of Mesa, Ariz., Joseph Tardiff of Aberdeen, Wash., and Jack Tardiff of Seattle; and 11 grandchildren.
Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with wake prayers at 7, in Dougherty Funeral Home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Michael's Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Memorials to the Duluth-Superior Symphony Orchestra are preferred.
