ESTES, Hiram Guy, 91, Starkville, formerly of Ripley, died February 10, 2011 at the Oktibbeha County Hospital in Starkville. He was born August 19, 1919 in Tippah County, the third of 12 children born to Lee and Elizabeth Shappley Estes. He was married to Ediith Reed of Falkner on October 17, 1947 in Tippah County. He had numerous occupations, including logger, farmer, storekeeper, carpenter and painter. He was one of the founding members of Child Haven School of Ripley for special education children, and assisted in many fundraising events for its operation. He was a member of Starkville Church of Christ, and former member of Ripley and Beech Hill Churches of Christ. Services were February 14, at 11 am at McBride Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Little Hope Cemetery. Minister Andy Miller officiated. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Edith Reed Estes; his daughters, Nancy (Ed) Williams and Beth Estes, all of Starkville; his grandchildren, Ellen (Ernest) Haas, Stuart, VA, Laura (Stephen) Smith, Moundville, AL, and Ben Williams, Knoxville, TN; his brother, Steadman (Shirley) Estes, Ripley; his sisters, Mattie Byrd Hobson and Mary Scarth, both of Ripley, Jo Lee, Memphis and Pam Dietze, Laredo, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Judy Rose Estes; his grandson, Austin Williams; his brothers, Robert Estes, Paul Estes, and Silas Estes; his sisters, Jamie Whitby, Kitty Amagliani and Dorothy Morrison. Pallbearers were Allan Estes, Mike Griffin, Mike Graves, Bruce Wallis, Ray Reed and John Estes Sr.
