Ripley, MS - Mary Hooper Estes Scarth, 91 passed away Monday, April 14, 2014 at Golden Living Center in Ripley. She was born March 2, 1923 to the late Robert Lee and Elizabeth Shappley Estes. She was a member of Beech Hill Church of Christ. Mary worked for Dr. Pennington as a dental assistant for over thirty years. She was a very loving and devoted mother, grandmother and she loved her nieces and nephews. Mary was a good caregiver to any family member when they were sick. Services will be at 1:00 pm Friday, April 18, 2014 at Ripley Funeral Home Chapel with Minister King McCarver officiating. Burial will be in Beech Hill Church of Christ Cemetery. She is survived one daughter, Sandra Wilkerson (Billy) of Blue Mountain; one son, Ed Scarth (Gayle) of Lake Orion, Michigan; three sisters, Mattie Byrd Hobson of Ripley, Jo Lee of Memphis and Pam Dietze of Laredo, Texas; and one sister-in-law, Shirley Estes of Ripley; eight grandchildren, Toby Taylor (Beth) of Blue Mountain, Whitney Wilkerson of Ripley, Cody Webster of Lexington, TN, Kevin Erskin of Grosse Pointe, Michigan, and one step-grandson, Jeff Wilkerson of Blue Mountain, Tabatha Ross of Pontotoc, Katie Scarth of New York and Kristin Scarth of Lake Orion, Michigan; and sixteen great-granddchildren. Pallbearers will be Toby Taylor, Cody Webster, Whitney Wilkerson, Zack Webster, Brick Ross and Tabatha Ross. She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Linda Wesbter; Granddaughter, Dana Webster; three sisters, Jamie Whitby, Kitty Amagliani and Dorothy Morrison; and five brothers, Paul, Robert, Hiram, Silas and Steadman Estes. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm Thursday, April 17, 2014 at Ripley Funeral Home.
