Mrs Vann, a native of Sampson County, was the daughter of the late David James Burgess and Minnie Wynn Burgess. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph A. Burgess and David J. Burgess. She attended Sharon Pentecostal Holiness Church and wa a caretaker and homemaker. She was a caring wife, mother, and grandmother.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Elliott Lloyd "Sam" Vann of the home, a son, Sammy Vann and wife Frankie of Clinton, a daughter, Judy Weavil and husband Mark of St. Louis, two grandchildren, Christie Merrell and husband Chad of Raleigh, and Cheri Vann of Clinton, two sisters, Frances Peterson and Joyce lane both of Clinton, three step-sisters, Lucille Yancey, Letha Yancey and Iris Parker.
The family recieved friends on Saturday morning, from 10am-11am the hour prior services at the funeral home.
The funeral services were held at 11am, Saturday, January 29, 2011 at the Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. George Terry and the Rev. Charles Ray Jernigan officiating.
Burial was made in Granview Memorial Gardens, Clinton, NC.
