Mrs. Mary Sue Callis
Mrs. Mary Sue Callis, age 74 years, died at her home at Port Haywood, Tuesday afternoon after a long illness. She is survived by her husband, John W. Callis; two daughters, Mrs. Sadie Widgeon, Capeville, and Mrs. Beulah Williams, Port Haywood; three sons, Malvern Callis, Mathews; John Callis, Newport News; and Lewis Callis of Hampton; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Brooks and Miss Fanny Owens of Mathews; one brother William E. Owens of Eastville.
Mrs. Callis was a member of St. Paul's M. E. church, where funeral services were held Thursday at 2:30 p.m., conducted by Rev. George C. Shaw. Interment was made in Friendship cemetery. Active pallbearers were: C. E. Diggs, Jessie Thomas, George Owens, George Fitchett, Carl Shackelford and George Callis.
