Annie White was born January 30, 1876 in Evansville, Indiana to Charles J. and Susie White. She came to California with her parents when she was about one year old. They settled in Sutter County, CA. Annie studied in school to become a bookkeeper but her mother, Susie, died when she was 25 and so she had to help care for her younger siblings and forget the career. On July 29, 1901, she married Richard Walton and together raised three children of their own: Richard Wendell (1902-1982), Muriel Janet (1905-1983) and Lucille Virginia (1910-1998). Even after her own children were raised, she still took in children to take care of. She was a very caring and loving woman and a great cook. Her grandson still recalls her great chocolate chip cookies! She passed away in Yuba City, CA on August 19, 1967. She lived for 91 years, 6 months and 20 days.
