Mrs. J. Ceylon Peaslee
The death of Mrs. Julia (Bailey) Peaslee of this village occurred Saturday at the Bailey Nursing Home in Oneonta following a long illness. She was 95 years old.
Mrs. Peaslee was born in the town of Middlefield on November 12, 1861, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Bailey. She was married to J. Ceylon Peaslee on November 6, 1881. His death occurred on May 28, 1951.
Mrs. Peaslee was a member of the Methodist Church of this village.
She is survived by a son, J. LeRoy Peaslee of Cooperstown; a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Madison of Hillsdale; two brothers, Erastus Bailey of Schenectady and Fred Bailey of Hammond; four grandchildren, Mrs. Harry ward and R. Stewart Peaslee, both of Cooperstown; Richard Peaslee of Sharon Springs, and Robert Peaslee of the United States Navy; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the Tillapaugh Funeral Home here Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock with the Rev. Robert H. Sheehan, pastor of the Methodist church, officiating. The body was placed in the funeral home vault to await burial in Lakewood Cemetery in the spring.
