He was born July 14, 1916, in Butte des Morts, WI, the son of the late Clarence and Mary (Alia) Benedict.
He married Ena Faye Boche on September 28, 1946, in Winchester, WI. They made their home in Butte des Morts their entire married lifetime.
John was employed at Don's Auto Body in Oshkosh until his retirement in 1981. He then worked part time in the men's fitness center and as a volunteer in the child care center, both at the Oshkosh Y.M.C.A., until 1996.
John was a member of St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church of Winneconne, WI, and had served as president of the Butte des Morts Citizens Association for twenty years.
John is survived by his wife, Ena Faye Benedict of Butte des Morts; one daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Gary Carlson of Marathon, WI; and two grandchildren, Brandon and Brittyni Carlson, also of Marathon, WI.
Along with his parents, John was also preceded in death by two brothers, Bertie "Bun" and Clarence "Wac" Benedict; and one sister, Lily May Boche.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2004, at 12:00 p.m. at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church, Winneconne, with Pastor Mark Albrecht officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Neenah, WI.
