The eldest child and only son of Edward and Franziska (Kamrath) Gross of Muskego. His two middle names are the names of his two grandfathers.

Older brother of Irma (b. 1901) and Neoda (b. 1907). Neoda became my grandmother.

His grandmother, Augusta Kamrath, died in May 1910.

Herbie was a beautiful and energetic boy.

Sadly, Herbie contracted typhoid fever and died in Feb. 1911 at age 12 in the Muskego home of his grandfater, August Kamrath, where he was being cared for. He was in the 6th grade. Herbie Gross was mourned by his family, his school, and the entire community of Muskego.

Herbert was survived by his parents, his sisters Irma and Neoda, his grandfather August Kamrath, and many aunts and uncles and cousins in Wisconsin and Pennsylvania.
