MRS. GEORGE Y. BONNETT
Mrs. George Y. Bonnett, well known in this vicinity, died at her home a short distance south of Chariton on Sunday, August 29, 1937, at the age of 63 years, 10 months and 9 days.
Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Paul H. Hicks, of the Methodist church, were held at the Beardsley Funeral Home on Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, and burial was in the Chariton cemetery.
Maude Myrtle Campbell, fourth child of Thomas H. and Hannah Robertson Campbell, was born near Chariton in Benton township, on October 20, 1873. She spent her entire life in and near Chariton with the exception of one winter in Colorado and one in Chicago, where she took a course in dressmaking.
She united with the Episcopal church many years ago and was active in the work of the Guild as long as her health permitted.
She was married on December 19, 1899, at Quincy, Ill., to George Y. Bonnett, of near Chariton, who survives her. To this union three sons were born, Paul Campbell Bonnett, Dean Robertson Bonnett and James Edwin Bonnett, all of Benton township, who with their wives and children are left to mourn the loss of a mother and grandmother who did for them the best she could.
Her father, two sisters, Mrs. Nelle Long and Miss Leila Campbell, and one brother, Win S. Campbell, preceded her in death. Her mother, Mrs. Hannah J. Campbell, preceded her in death just one week ago.
She leaves four brothers, Robert J. Campbell, of near Chariton, Thomas B. Campbell, of near Derby, Bert R. Campbell, of Laguna Beach, Calif., and one sister, Mrs. Gladys Cornell, of Lacona, Iowa. Also seven grandchildren to whom she was devoted.
She had been in failing health for several years but was able to be about in her home until June, since which time she as been bedfast.
