Peter Eckley Funeral Rites Held Saturday

Funeral services for Peter Eckley, 73, were held Saturday afternoon at Toulon Baptist Church, with Rev. Joseph C. Jenkins of Jerseyville, former pastor of the Toulon church, in charge. He was assisted bu Rev. Robert Taylor of the Toulon church. Song service was by a male quartet composed of Paul Walker, H. W. Walker, L. J. Mawbey and Lester Winans, with Mrs. Roy Dutton as organist. Selections were "Only Remember by What I Have Done" and "Going Down the Valley" Mrs. Sean Winn of Wyoming sang a solo.

Bearers were: Marshall Winn, James Winn, Edward Winn, George Jackson, Robert Jackson and Marvin Jackson.

Interment was in Toulon cemetery.

Peter Eckley was born Sept. 3, 1864 in West Jersey township. He was a son of Levi and Charlotte (White) Eckley. On Jan 10, 1889, he was united in marriage to Joyce Elizabeth Winn, who died July 18, 1937.

Surviving are four sons, Earl, AFred, Ernest, and Harold, all of the Toulon community, and the following sister and brothers: Mrs. Carrie Stetzler, Kansas City, MO; Levi of California; John , Peoria; Milo, Galesburg; George, Monmouth ; Charles of Toulon.

Attending the funeral from a distance were the following : Mr. aand Mrs. John Eckley and daughter Carolyn, Mr. and Mrs. George Eckley and Mr. and Mrs. Pat Donovan, all of Peoria; Dr. and Mrs. George Eckley and daughter, Mrs. Icle Garrett and daughter Grace Rose, all of Monmouth.
