Henry met his wife Frances when he was asked by her family to try to get a letter to her in Paris, where she was trapped during Robespierre's Reign of Terror. He delivered the letter, and fell in love.

Henry was a nomadic import merchant who founded many business ventures in Europe. Acting Consul, Madrid. Appointed to Cadiz as Consul by President John Adams but the Senate did not confirm in time. Ultimately Consul at Cadiz.
