Louis Ayling Sr.

Louis Jefferson (Jeff) Ayling Sr., 76, Siloam Springs, Ark., formerly of Iola, died Sunday, June 6, 1999, at Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital.


He was born Aug. 10, 1922, in Iola, the son of Thomas Elbertson and Anne Laura Muntzert Ayling. He was a retired employee of the Pet Milk Company and had also worked at the Conoco and Texaco service stations in Siloam Springs, where he had lived since 1946. He was an Army veteran of World War II.


Ayling was a charter member of the Harvard Avenue Baptist Church in Siloam Springs and American Legion Post No. 141 at Claremore, Okla. He was married to Mildred Juanita Roberts on Oct. 5, 1940 [sic].


Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, Louis J. Ayling Jr., Siloam Springs; a daughter [living], Augusta; a brother, Donald Ayling, Lawrence; a sister, Marceline Carr, Forsythe, Mo.; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.


Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6:30 to 8 at Wasson Funeral Home in Siloam Springs. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Wasson Memorial Chapel, with Dr. Jerry Hopkins and Rev. Dan Crenshaw officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery at Siloam Springs.
