Anna "Marceline" Carr, 84, of Forsyth, Missouri, died Friday, Feb. 1, 2008, at Skaggs Community Health Center in Branson, Missouri.

She was born Sept. 23, 1923, in Iola, Kansas, the daughter of Thomas and Annie (Mutzert) Ayling.

She taught kindergarten through eighth grades in Oklahoma in a one-room school house.

She went to Clown School when she was 81 and was known at "Messy Bessy."

In 1998, she moved from Siloam Springs, AR, to the Forsyth Nursing and Rehabilitation Center where she was active in social activities, was in charge of the card ministry and attended church services. She was a past president and secretary for the residence association at the rest home.

She was known to everyone as "Granny Carr."

She is survived by her children, Steven and wife, Ruth, Girard, KS, Tom and wife, Suzin, Edmond, OK, Don, Muskogee, OK, Anna and husband, Jim Campbell, Forsyth, MO, and Mike Campbell; three grandchildren; a brother; Donald L. Ayling, Lawrence, KS; and a sister-in-law, Juanita Ayling, Siloam Springs, AR.

Her husband, Sam Carr, three brothers and two sisters died earlier.

Funeral Services were at Whelchel Funeral Chapel in Forsyth, Missouri. Burial was in the Altoona Cemetery, Altoona, Kansas.

Memorials may be sent in her name to Forsyth Nursing and Rehabilitation, Activity Fund, Forsyth, MO.
