Mrs. Saunders died suddenly at the family home on May 17, 1915. Her death was described in the Tyler paper as coming "like a clap from the clear sky." Mr. Saunders died only a few months earlier, followed by the death of a daughter, Mrs. J.F. Costin. She was survived by three sons: Walter of El Paso; Joe and Leo of Tyler; and three daughters: Mrs. Ed Gilroy of Ottawa, Kansas; and Misses Ellen and Margaret of Tyler.
