Mrs. Kate Costin was born and reared in Tyler. She died on November 20, 1914, from injuries sustained from a trash fire at her home.

Mrs. Costin was survived by her husband and four small children: Annie, Mary, James, and Edward. Out of town relatives who attended her funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Ed Gilroy of Caldwell, Kansas, and Walter Sanders of El Paso. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery. [Tyler Daily Courier Times, November 16th, 21st, and 23rd, 1914]
