Mrs. Mary Bland Welch, age 87, died Saturday morning at Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility. The native and lifelong resident of Bulloch County worked at Henry's Department Store for over 20 years. Mrs. Welch enjoyed gardening and was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Steadfast Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her husband, C. A. Welch.
Survivors include her daughter Jeananne Skinner of Statesboro; two sons and daughters-in-law, Fred Thomas and Becky Aldrich of Phoenix City, Ala., and Charles A. and Nancy Welch of Highlands, N.C.; one sister, Vivian Smart of Jacksonville, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Kim Howell of Hernando, Miss., DeLoyd Skinner of Ft. Worth, Texas, Matt Skinner of Jacksonville, Fla., Marci Welch of New Orleans, La., Carter Welch of Jacksonville, David Aldrich of Pelham, Ala. and Scott Smith of Lewisberg, Tenn.; twelve great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Hodges-Moore Funeral Home with Dr. H. William Perry and the Rev. James Bland officiating.
Burial will be in Eastside Cemetery.
Grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Steadfast Sunday School Class.
