Vivian Bland Smart, born December 24, 1924 in Statesboro, Ga, died peacefully on Monday November 12, 2012 in Jacksonville, FL. Born to parents Roachel Bland and Esther Donaldson, she moved to Savannah, Ga after completing high school.
She married Samuel Smart and they moved to Jacksonville, FL. She and Sam were founding members of Arlington Presbyterian Church and she volunteered with the Meals on Wheels program for over 20 years.
She was predeceased by her parents, husband, son Samuel Smart Junior, two sisters and three brothers. She is survived by her son Herbert Ivan Smart and her daughter Susan Smart Mauney, four grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and many loving friends.
A viewing will be held from 4pm-6pm on Thursday November 15 at Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 940 Cesery Drive. A graveside service will be held at Bonaventure Cemetery in Savannah, Ga on Friday afternoon at 2pm. A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held at Arlington Presbyterian Church on Sunday afternoon at 2pm.
