World War II Veteran

Daniel Edward Beaver, 83, Kokomo, died 10:59 p.m. Friday June 8, 2007, at St. Joseph Hospital. He was born on Feb. 2, 1924, in Kokomo, the son of Agnes (Ryan) Beaver and Emil Beaver.

He leaves behind his wife of 60 years, Betty (Fouch) Beaver. They were married Dec. 13, 1947, in Franklin.

He was a 1942 graduate of Kokomo High School and attended Indiana University in Kokomo.

Mr. Beaver served in the Army Air Corps during World War II, where he was a radio operator and gunner on a B-17 aircraft. After his discharge, he was in the Air Force Reserve.

Mr. Beaver worked at Delco Electronics for 14 years and owned and operated Beaver Lodge Moble Home Park in Kokomo. He retired in June of 1986.

Mr. Beaver was a member and deacon of Northview Christian Church. Also, he was a member of the American Legion Post 6 and Pioneer Automobile Club, where he served as president and vice-president. He also served as president of the Auto Clubs Council of Indiana and voluteered his time giving tours of the Automotive Heritage Museum of Kokomo.

He and his wife where avid square dancers. He was a ham radio operator and he built and sailed his own sailboat.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, William and Edwin Beaver.

Funeral services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 S. Webster St., with Pastor Charles Armstrong officiating. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery, where military honors will be provided by the U.S. Army and VFW Military Rites Team. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary.
