JULY 14, 1936

MRS. GIBSON DIES

Mrs. Minerva Jane Bearden Gibson, 72, native of Christian county, and a resident of this city for many years, died at 9:05 o'clock Monday night, in her apartment at 107 1-2 E. Main Street, the victim of a heat stroke, suffered five hours earlier.
Apparently overcome while feeding her canary birds, of which she had from 50 to 75, Mrs. Gibson was found in an unconscious condition , in a hallway, by other residents of the Gibson Apartments. A physician was summoned, but efforts to save her life proved futile.
Mrs. Gibson was born in Christian County in 1864, and spent her entire life in this community. For many years she has lived in the Gibson Apartments. She was a lover of birds, and devoted her time to the raising of canaries.
Surviving are her stepbrother, James Angleton of South Fork Township, 3 nieces, Mrs. Ada Oller, Mrs. Laura Bryant, both of Tovey; Mrs. Maud Dunbar, Taylorville, and three nephews, William of Clarksdale, Dane Allen of Taylorville, Guy Allen of Sicily and Carl Allen of Michigan. She also leaves several half brothers and sisters in Nebraska.
The body was removed to the Chestnut and Pearce Funeral Home parlor, where services will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon. Burial will be in the Universalist Cemetery 2 miles west of Sharpsburg.

Minerva was united in marriage to Joseph P. Gibson on October 8, 1890 at Taylorville, Illinois.
