William Lafayette Bearden was born at Cadiz, Kentucky, Sept., 18, 1827. When six years of age his parents moved to Taylorville, Ill., where he grew to manhood. In 1869 he was married to Nancy J. Angleton who departed this life on July 16, 1890.
Mr. Bearden's later years were spent in Dorchester, Nebr., where he now has a son, Virgil, and a daughter, Mrs. Maude Welch. He has a daughter, Mrs. May Soule in Beggs, Oklahoma, a son Hiram in Hurley, Texas, a son Burley, who is a locamotive engineer at Alliance, Nebr., at whose home he was living at the time of his death. He had been gradually failing since last fall when he was taken to Alliance, with a hope that his health would improve. His condition was not considered dangerous until Feb. 26th, when he was taken suddenly worse and died at 11 p.m. Being 84 years old past.
His remains were brought here accompanied by his son Virgil and his son Burley and family and Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Rogers. Interment was made at Dorchester cemetery Feb. 28th. Rev. Hall of the M. E. Church, conducted the service.
Mr. Bearden was first married to Mildred Ann Davis on October 28, 1847 in Christian Co., Illinois, she died in 1864. To their union were born: Albert William, Adelia Martha, Mildred Alice, Minerva Jane Bearden.
